We have finally completed this timber refurbishment & bird deterrent spikes installation project & we are very proud of the end result. This job was tailored to the customer’s budget, they had quotes to over board it all with UPVC (not quite sure how they were going to do that without losing all the decorative details) the cheapest of which was twice our price & quotes to replace all the timbers with new of which the lowest was four times our price.
Maintenance & repairs of slates, failed mortar, ridge tiles, lead, chimney stack, parapet coping stones & cast iron trough gutter.
Strip & re-cover of slate roof using new lath battens & breathable membrane under felt plus new insulation boards.
Roof repairs & maintenance. Replacement of broken/damaged slates, re-pointing of failed mortar, chimney stack rendering, flaunch repairs, lead replacement & gutter clearance.
Repairs to perished under felt, broken tiles, installation of eaves felt support trays, re-pointing of failed mortar & gutter clearance. When this house was built the under felt had no support at the eaves where it should deliver rain water into the gutter. Consequently the water has pooled at the bottom (you can see the white tide marks in the photos) which has caused the under felt to perish leading to damp & mould on the interior of the wall from the water being delivered onto the top course of stone. To remedy this problem we have cut back the perished under felt, installed eaves felt support trays & sealed them to the under felt using polyurethane to prevent water from blowing in beneath the under felt.
Replacement of dilapidated hip & ridge tiles. These ridge tiles were literally disintegrating in our hands as we lifted them. Removal of moss/lichen, installation of eaves felt support trays, chimney stack repairs, roof tile repairs & gutter clearance.
Strip & re-cover of tiled roof featuring installation of in-roof solar panel tray system & solar panels.
